I think I’ve personally struggled with this concept for years. At times separating myself from influence so I won’t be affected by other artists…but why? Isn’t the whole point of me creating art in the first place…to inspire?

I hope anyone and everyone honestly wants to copy me…just make sure you tell me about it. I want to see it : )

In the last 30 days we have seen thousands of British students protesting in the streets after the government raised tuition fees, thousands protesting in Tunisia after a business owner set himself on fire, and currently 1% of Egypt’s population rioting all over the country against a government that won’t hear them otherwise.

Whats the first thing I start thinking when I see these patterns?

(Aside from the undeniable resemblances to the Age of Enlightenment)

Does it have to be like this? Is there a way humans can live harmoniously?

I know it doesn’t have to be like this. And I am proud to pursue a environmentally sustainably, socially just and spiritually-fulfilling world.

“Men, do the right thing!”

This was the title of a brochure placed in plain view, and not to mention newly stocked, at the post office.

After reading through this brochure I found out some really interesting pieces of information. 1) All men between the ages of 19-26 are required to submit to the Selective Service 2) Not submitting is considered a felony 3) If you are older than 26 and you have not registered than you are not required to by law.

The first thing I thought was…What is the Selective Service?

After a few minutes its easy to put together, Selective Service is just another word for “Sign up for the draft.”

My second thought was…Haha, thank god I’m 27 and too old to sign up.

Little did I know that my mother, the one who gave birth to me, knowingly signed me up for this when she assisted me in applying for financial aid for college.

All I could think was…No she didn’t?

And that’s when she gave me the million dollar advice…

And it sounded artsy-fartsy as fuck, but it was CRAZY useful advice. A slacker hit the sheets that night, but the CLERKS-guy got out of bed the following morning.

These are the coolest looking Star Wars designs by Olly Moss. I love the way they made the characters their own but also kept a vintage style to it.

I agree with my brother…totally want these in the office. Its not like we are trying to hide the fact that we’re geeks…at least we have good taste.

Its not like we’d ever put up Episode One posters : )

“The Internet is a super-distribution machine that allows copies of digital media to flow in an almost frictionless way. As the wealth and survival of traditional media businesses are built on selling precious copies, the free flow of free copies is undermining the established order. If reproductions of media are free, how can we keep on financing films and how can we find value in the media we create and sell?”

These are the topics consultant and former President of the Tribeca Film Institute, Brian Newman covers in this video.

Why I like him? He has an intriguing arrogance to him as if he’s made many films but he has seen the behind the scenes at festivals and realized the major gap between what people thought was a profitable media business plan and just fairy tales.

What does this mean for the future? Being a new media producer this is a very real subject we discuss many times a day everyday of the week. Realizing that the traditional business models in the world are breaking down we are constantly faced with the question…do I stay or do I go?

In the end if you want to be creative and make money doing it…you have to be creative in the way you make money.

Many of the points Brian talks about are extremely good guidelines for creating successful and profitable media in this new paradigm of “free.”
